North East Female Hockey

2019-2020 Season Report

Northeast Female Hockey the 2019/2020 season with great success. This season we had 12 teams and over 170 girls playing female hockey. We were able to host teams at all age levels and at both the A and AA levels. Our team highlights are as follows:

Eagles A2 Novice- This team had a fantastic season finishing 17-1-0. After a challenging season last year, we entered this team at the Novice A2 level to allow the girls more touches on the puck and to build their confidence before heading to the Atom level next season. It worked! They had a fabulous season with huge smiles both on and off the ice.

Eagles A3 Novice- Finished the regular season 9-6-3-1. The team also had a wonderful season and with players new to hockey they showed tremendous growth and development. We are looking forward to seeing them return in the fall and continue building on the great season they had this year.

Eagles A1 Atom- finished the regular season 5-11-2. This team showed a lot of growth and development this season. They were in the midst of a huge playoff run after they knocked out their competition. It was sad to see their playoff run cut short by Covid-19 as they were about to win and move to the finals.

Eagles A2 Atom finished the regular season 8-8-2. This team battled hard all season and demonstrated a lot of growth in their skill development. They were fierce competitors in every game and had big smiles on their faces all season long.

Eagles A3 Atom finished the regular season 7-10-1. This team had a great season. They demonstrated growth in their skill development and we always excited to be at the rink.

Predators Peewee AA - finished the regular season 5-16-3. This team had a great season both on and off the ice. Many players were new to the AA level and as the season progressed the team became a fierce group of competitors.

Eagles A1 Peewee - finished the regular season 3-12-3. This team had a very busy season and worked hard both on and off the ice. The girls were excited to learn and continue with their skill development all season long.

Eagles A2 Peewee - finished the regular season 5-11-2. These young ladies worked hard on and off the ice and showed tremendous growth as a team.

Predators Bantam AA- finished the regular season 23-3-2. This was a fantastic year for the AA Bantam team. They won the USA -U15 All American Hockey Tournament, Hockey Manitoba Bantam Showcase and were up 2 games to 0 in the Hockey Winnipeg City Finals. Their season was cut short by Covid-19 but it was clear they were on the path to winning it all. During the season the Predators coaching staff and 5 players also took part in the Female All Star Weekend.

Eagles A1 Bantam- finished their season 16-2-4. This team finished first in their league and was heading to the finals where they would have wrapped up another victory. Unfortunately, their season was cut short by Covid-19. Overall, they had a fantastic season with many celebrations and smiles.

Eagles A2 Bantam-had a very successful regular season finishing 15-5-2. This team also had a fantastic season and was on their way to heading to the city finals. Many celebrations and smiles were had all season long.

Northeast Female Hockey Highlights:

  • AA Bantam Predator Team raised over $12,500 to support the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.
  • We had 170 girls who played female hockey this season and our program continues to grow.
  • Each year we continue to have female players from our program represented in Hockey Manitoba Programs such as: Peewee Prospects, Female Top 100, U16 POE and U18 POE
  • We currently have players playing in the female AAA league, Female Prep Hockey, Female High School Hockey League and the Female Junior Hockey League.
  • Hockey has become a life sport for girls who have entered the female program and despite the season records or playoff runs we are developing female players who love the game and want to be involved in the sport beyond their community club playing years.
  • Unfortunately, our season was cut short for many of our teams due to Covid-19 but it was evident that many championships were about to be won. We wish all our players continued success as they prepare for next season.
