Significant Impacts

Unfortunately, the 2018/19 season didn’t have its shortage of negative comments in regards to the evaluation process and, coaching staff.

The evaluation committee (Tom Maines, Brent Wilkinson, Carrie Schimnowski, and Heather Campbell) developed a new tryout and draft model for the 2019/20 season. Chris Zajac will continue to evaluate independently from REMHA and, has been given the task of restructuring his evaluation process on and off the ice.

Like years past and years to come, coaching positions and lack of goaltenders continue to be a topic of concern. Consistently we are put in the position of “strong arming” parents into coaching. We will need to look at possible options for recruiting coaches. As for our goaltenders, we will continue to offer quality lines of development and mentorship with the assistance of the Player Development committee. The fact that we are short goaltenders at the Bantam and Midget age groups is not necessarily a bad thing. This means we are producing quality net minders that are being recruited by other leagues. Having said that, our goal is to provide a fun and competitive brand of hockey our registrants choose to be a part of.

Closing Remarks

I would like to thank all members of the REMHA Executive for their work this season. Volunteering is thankless, and the time and effort put in is countless. Also, thank you to the Community Club Directors, your commitment and hard work does not go unnoticed.
